Arizona Vacation Adventure {Couples Edition} Last month, we had an amazing vacation in Arizona!! My husband, myself, and another couple jetted off from the good old south and headed out west!! I thought it would be fun to share our adventures with you and how we ended up in Arizona. Of course I took photos and if you've been following me for a while, you know that I always use both my DSLR and my cell phone camera when on vacation. No shame in making it easy on myself when traveling for fun. So I hope you keep scrolling to see some amazing views and see all the fun we had! XOXO - Kirsten ![]() Omni Tucson National Resort. View from Bobs Steak House onto their golf course. Why did we choose Arizona?? Without getting a little bitter about 2020, our original vacation was planned for Scotland in March of 2020 but we all know why that didn't happen. Scotland WILL happen in 2022!! We brainstormed for a fun vacation in the US and was open to travelers. We also wanted a location that we all haven't experienced before that was TOTALLY different than Georgia. So we landed on Arizona!!! One of the best things we did was hire a travel agent. I'll share more about how awesome Heather is and her details at the end of this blog post! Tuscon, Arizona Our time in Tucson was filled with relaxing, golf, spa, and of course hiking!! We also had to taste their Mexican food a few times. The heat is totally different than the south. We just kept saying, "It's a dry heat!". Saguaro National Park Instead of rows and rows of trees, it was cacti! I've traveled a lot but it was so amazing to see how vastly different the desert was compared to living on the east coast. Tombstone, Az We decided at the last minute it would be fun to drive down to Tombstone, Az to see the Wild West and all its history. Including the O.K. Corral! It was fun and a tad cheesy! The drive was nice and beautiful to take in. Our time in Tucson was great! I would highly recommend our hotel; Omni Tucson National Resort. I loved that it was small and quiet. The rooms were more like villas with their own outside entrance. We ate outside for breakfast everyday and the birds were so loud and chatty! Next stop.... Sedona, Az Now, Tucson was beautiful but Sedona is breathtaking!! To go from the desert and then all of the sudden see these gorgeous red rocks is pretty amazing. We really had to remind ourselves that we were still in the same state! This part of our trip was a little busier with ATV riding, Grand Canyon tour, golf, and a Vortex hike! We all said that it would be worth another trip back to Sedona to see more. We stayed at the Amara Resort in Sedona. The photos here are the views from their patio and parking lot. It was pretty awesome to sit outside and take in the view. The resort was busier on the weekend and quieter during the week. Perfect for couples or fun with girlfriends. ATV Tour through Sedona It was an experience for sure!! Out of everyone, I was the only one that had NEVER done it but I can now say that I did it!! :) Our tour guide was great and made the experience that much better! Hummer Tour through the South Rim of the Grand Canyon We did a day trip to the Grand Canyon and decided on a guided hummer tour. It was great to have someone tell you exactly what you are looking at and the history behind it. It was so beautiful and looked like a painting. So glad we had great weather. Sedona Sunset Vortex Hike While the guys went golfing, we decided to do something we never could do at home!! Why not a hike, mediation, a little yoga, and learning about vortexes?? Oh boy did we learn all about them!! It was so interesting to learn about Cathedral Rock and how people believe that spiritual vortexes are present there. We hiked down to the bottom where there is a creek and then hiked back up to see the sunset go down over Cathedral Rock. A great way to end the trip! Our trip was amazing thanks to Heather with Simply Enchanted Travel!! ![]() Our experience on our trip was amazing due to Heather and her expertise! She took into consideration all of our likes and put together a great itinerary. As a small business owner, I love supporting others so make to check her out and possibility use her for your next trip. A little bit about Heather and how she can help you!! 2 Easy Ways to Photograph Your Kids {Valentine's Day}Okay, so the other day I was thinking and realizing I hadn't photographed my own children in a while. I sometimes forget to capture my kids like I do my clients and always rely on my cell phone. Not a bad thing but it's life. My kids give me a hard time when taking photos so don't think they are perfect little angels. Back in the day when my two older kids were little, I would actually make their Valentine's Day Cards and be all artsy for them! Even though they are older, why not have a little fun with them!! And of course my youngest is 5 so he was a willing participant...kinda. So today Im sharing how I made TWO fun backdrops to create a fun Valentine's Day Photo. Better yet?? It was less than $10 from Target! No fancy backdrop here, all I used were foam hearts and a roll of hearts wrapping paper. So take a few minutes to scroll down to check out how I make it work and how much fun it was. Bonus??? I took photos with both my DSLR camera and my cell phone. Just to prove that anyone can do this!! 1. Foam Hearts to create a fun backdrop! Don't have foam hearts? Want to be a little extra with crafts? Just cut out hearts from construction paper! Also saves you $. Step 1 - Find a wall in your home with good light or head outside! {like the picture above} Step 2 - Tape hearts to the wall or ground Step 3 - Talk your kids into participating! For step 3, it cost a few pieces of candy and dessert after dinner. :) Photo Tip: Want those hearts to look a little "blurry" in the background? Just place your child a few feet away from the wall. This will allow a good distance so that it gives you that "blurry background"! You'll see the difference between the photos below. More comfortable with your cell phone camera?? Totally okay!! The photos below were taken with my iphone 11 pro max! The two images on the outside were with the "portrait mode" and the one in the middle was with the regular photo setting! I edited these in PicTapGo. Totally works with your cell phone as long as you have good light in the room you use. Now with my tween daughter we took the hearts outside! Super simple and super sweet!! We looked up some fun inspiration on Pinterest and had fun. If it wasn't February, we would have had fun with chalk art. But it was a tad chilly outside. 2. Use wrapping paper as a backdrop! Of course any paper will do! You could even use kraft paper and draw hearts on there if you already have that in your home. Step 1 - Find a wall in your home {I used the same place I did the hearts} Step 2 - Line it up with your baseboards and tape it up! Step 3 - Take your child's photo! Photo Tip: Just be mindful that you have to get close up shots with the older kids due to the wrapping paper not being that tall. If you want them to stand, you would need to tape up two rows of wrapping paper. I was working fast and easy so it was only 1 row of wrapping paper for me! And here's proof again that you can do this with your cell phone camera! These are all taken in portrait mode with my iphone 11 pro max. I hope you've enjoyed reading this blog post today and encouraged to go out and photograph your kiddos for Valentine's Day! Feel free to tag me if you give it a try. I even managed to print my photos to decorate for Valentine's Day. Check what I did with them over on Instagram. Let's just say I won extra mom points!! A Month of Social Distancing
Since I'm home, I figured I'd share our time at home. You know I can't NOT take photos. It's a great creative outlet for me and of course this time in our lives it something that needs to be documented. Our family is home safely and doing our part to help with social distancing. We pray and are thankful for the front line workers that get up and work everyday during this COVID-19 pandemic.
We pray for those effected by this pandemic and those that have lost loved ones.
We pray for those effected by this pandemic and those that have lost loved ones.
Now, first let me confess that I do use both my cell phone and my DSLR camera. This time at home as allowed for me to photograph my kids more often than normal AND even get a little creative. Thankful for my daughter who enjoys it!! If you've been around for a while now, you know that I LOVE using my cell phone and always share easy ways to improve your cell phone images.
This mom of three can't always juggle her big girl camera every where she goes!

I kicked off our social distancing with a {free} mini camera class over in my Facebook Group! I had originally planed a camera walk but to make sure we were ALL safe, we did it together on-line! We had a great time, great participation, and we learned a ton.
I grabbed my DSLR and participated along side everyone too. Stay tuned as I'm hoping to get my beginner camera class on-line!

The week of Spring Break {Social Distancing Edition} I put out a {free} Photo Scavenger Hunt for families! My kids had a BLAST playing and helping get some social media content photos. It was fun to see my big kids really work together.
My little guy loved being able to participate as well. I created a scavenger for my little clients as well!

Just like many of you; we've kept busy with distance learning, trying to balance working at home with kids, "socializing" with friends on Zoom, baking, cooking, and thankful to be able to enjoy this Spring weather!

Family Photos in the City!!
Back in February, I had a blast with one of my families down at The Fox Theatre Atlanta and The Varsity!! Their session was so adorable that I HAD to blog it! When you live in ATLANTA, you know all about these famous landmarks in the city. But I also wanted to give a few tips on how I help my clients figure out their locations for their photo sessions.
Scroll down to check out this fun session and see how I help my clients prepare for their locations!

How do you plan your locations for your sessions?
1. When you book a session with me, I always send over a questionnaire!
{This gives me a better idea of your style, tastes, and what you have in mind for your session. }
2. I ALWAYS have location suggestions that I know will work during specific times of the day, weekdays, or weekends.
{I have various locations that fit style, looks, and the perfect sunset sessions!}
3. But I LOVE trying out new locations.
{The Fox Theatre Atlanta was new to me and super excited to give it a try!}
4. I make sure the location we choose is open to having photographers on their property.
{very important for all photographers to know!}
5. I always make sure there are no major events, concerts, races, or conferences going on during their session.
{last thing you want are 1,000 people in your photos or parking issues!}

So take a few minutes to learn 5 EASY TIPS on how you can
take better cell phone pictures at Disney World!
take better cell phone pictures at Disney World!
1. Oh how we all love Portrait Mode on a cell phone!!!
Portrait mode allows us to take a photos on our cell phones but giving us that "look" that a DSLR camera gives. That blurry background that everyone loves and creates a great depth of field with your subject. The portrait mode feature is on Apple iPhone 7 Plus or higher. Similar features are on some of the Samsung phones as well. And thanks to Google, there are apps, filters, and even Instagram can make photos appear to have portrait mode!
Two easy tips when using Portrait Mode: Make sure your child is STANDING STILL and you have GOOD LIGHT!

2. Perspective
This tip is easy because it has nothing to do with your cell phone camera.
It is how you view things around you!
Changing your perspective when taking a photo can be a GAME CHANGER!!
While at Disney World, try taking your photos through your child's eyes or their perspective.
It will allow you to tell their "story" when you make your family photo album. And yes, I said photo album!

3. Black & White images make everything better!
Why choose to make your image Black & White?
- It makes your image timeless.
- It helps tell your story.
- It can fix any "off color" in your photo since it is a cell phone camera.
- It can help eliminate distracting items in a photo that you can't avoid...like the many people at Disney World!

4. Selfies are a MUST!
Why???
1. Great angles...duh!!!
2. They are easy!!
3. Plus now some of the Apple and Samsung photos have portrait mode in selfie mode. #awesome
4. It allows you to get in the photo and not have to bother any one else to take it.
So don't be shy. Take that selfie!! Your kids will love it and you'll be grateful you have them to look back on.

5. Get in the photo!!!
I may be repeating myself BUT it is important. Get in the photo!
You may have clocked 15,000 steps already, ate way too much yummy Disney Food, or just plain tired.
BUT promise me {pinky promise okay??} you'll hand your cell phone over to someone else and GET IN THE PHOTO!
Ask your spouse or your child to take a photo of you!! You'll love having them.
Shoot, your child may know how to use the cell phone camera better than you do!
